Op de donkerste dag van het jaar, de winterzonnewende, trekken zij het Savelsbos in om daar met rituelen en ceremoniën de natuur te eren en haar om terugkomst van het licht te vragen.

A 160-page art book, designed by artist, photographer, costume designer, and author Ingeborg Steenhorst, uses artistic analog photography to immerse you in the story of two artistic women from Maastricht: witch sisters Rafke and Kim Hotterbeekx. On the darkest day of the year, the winter solstice, they enter the Savelsbos forest to honor nature with rituals and ceremonies and to ask for its return of light.
Steenhorst also wrote inspiring short stories and poems about sisterhood, mysticism, and nature religion. In short, an enchanting tale of femininity, natural forces, and the ancient symbolism surrounding witchcraft. The photos depict elements from ancient folklore, pagan rituals, and archetypal female images, creating a visual world that feels both intimate and monumental. Each page feels like a step along a "witch's path."
